KFC Big Bash League Wrap Up

What an amazing KFC Twenty20 Big Bash League it has been in 2016/2017, sadly for the ZONE BOWLING crew neither the mighty Sydney Thunder nor the Melbourne Stars managed to take out the competition. However, the Stars gave it a crack, making the semi-finals, only to be knocked out in the blistering WACA heat by the Perth Scorchers.

The #ThunderNation gave the competition a solid innings, finishing in joint place with the Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers only ranked lowest due to a bad run rate. It was good to see super star Shane Watson at the crease after missing a few early matches due to injury.

Here’s hoping the Thunder come back bigger and better next year and cruise through to the final series.

The Melbourne Stars had a brighter finish to the season with a semi-final appearance, only to be knocked out the scorchers by 7 wickets at a scorching WACA oval. The Stars finished the season in fourth place, behind 2011-12 BBL winners, the Sydney Sixers. This was the fifth time the Stars had met the Scorchers in a semi-final match and unfortunately some Mitchell Johnson bowling blew the Stars away.

ZONE BOWLING were happy to support both teams throughout their BBL06 campaigns and thanks to the amazing players we had the opportunity to give away a signed replica jersey from each team.
