NSW Claim National Disability Championships

This Year ZONE BOWLING Rooty Hill hosted the annual National Disability Championships between Wednesday 7 until Saturday 17 June 2017. The event proved to be a major success running for 11 days with 430 athletes and 200 carers. There was a total of 9,546 games bowled with a high game of 290!
New South Wales bowled their way to victory for their third Open Team Challenge with Victoria taking the Cole Cup title.
On the way to claiming their third victory in as many years NSW were dominant claiming 27 points and finishing with a total pinfall of 4774, three points ahead of second placed South Australia with Queensland finishing in third place on 19.5 points.
With a total of 31 points after 7 rounds in the Cole Cup, Victoria claimed victory. NSW finished in second placed with 27.5 points and Tasmania in 3rd place on 26.5 points.
Bowlers also competed in the Open and Restricted Masters. Bowling a huge 267 in the open division New South Welshmen Kallan Strong claimed victory. It was all NSW at the National Disability Championship with ZONE BOWLING Hornsby bowler Nathan Constable claiming top stop in the Restricted Masters.
After some fierce competition, Naomi De Battista (600) and Shelton Farmer (698) claimed the High Series awards, with Veronica Joseph (243) and Duncan Fraser (290) taking home the High Game awards, and Jennifer Kupiers (145) and Frank Cooke (110) finishing with the highest game over average in the tournament.
A big congratulations to everyone involved including the athletes, carers and volunteers who worked hard to pull together and deliver on such a successful event.
A special thank you to the awesome team at ZONE BOWLING Rooty Hill who were kept busy across the event and kept the venue ticking along serving 380 ham and cheese toasties, 226 burgers and brewing 1,638 cups of coffee and tea.
ZONE BOWLING is excited to announce the 2018 National Disability Championship will be returning to ZONE BOWLING Woodville. So lets see if NSW can make it 4 in a row or if there will be a new champion crowned!
